Ongoing or Long-Term Opportunities

• COMFORT CHAT
  Some elderly with low vision find it difficult to read their mail or the newspaper and volunteers can help. Individuals who feel Comfort Chat would be a benefit to them should contact our agency to request this service. We will work to link them with a volunteer from their community who agrees to assist the individual with reading their mail or newspaper or in making contact on a weekly basis thru phone or in person.
• SHICK (Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas)
  SHICK volunteers will assist with Medicare and other insurance needs. This volunteer position is requires training thru the Kansas Department on Aging. Contact the Area Agency on Aging for more information.



Seasonal or Short-Term Opportunities

• LIFESTORY VOLUNTEERS
  Lifestory volunteers meet with an individual who would like assistance in recording some important events in their life and getting their life story down on paper for themselves and for their family.
• PROJECT VOLUNTEERS
  Project volunteers help with projects that are short-term or seasonal such as providing transportation, yard work, planting flowers, filling bird feeders, helping with holiday decorations, writing Christmas cards, etc.
